Community Quests are a global Elden Ring event running from September to December 2026, celebrating the Tarnished Edition and Tarnished Pack. Every player on every platform works toward the same goals, and when the community hits all of them, everyone gets a reward.
What is the current Elden Ring community quest?
The current community quest is Questline 2: Path of the Cardinal Sin, live from October 1 to October 28, 2026. The community has to commit 50,000 Cardinal Sins, summon 3,000,000 White Phantoms, obtain 1,000,000 Festering Bloody Fingers and obtain 3,000,000 Golden Seeds. Its announced Twitch chat badge is a Festering Bloody Finger by Carsondrewit. The next questline, Path of the Elden Lord, starts on November 2.
How Community Quests work
- Each month has a new questline with four global goals.
- You just play Elden Ring during the questline’s dates: there is nothing to sign up for.
- Goals are community totals: nobody has to finish them alone.
- Progress is posted on the official ELDEN RING Discord server.
- Rewards are out-of-game: commemorative artwork and a Twitch chat badge. There are no in-game items.

September questline recap: Path of the Tarnished (completed)
The first questline, Questline 1: Path of the Tarnished, ran from September 1 to 28, 2026 and the community cleared all four of its goals. Bandai Namco confirmed the win and revealed the reward: a commemorative artwork by Shimhaq, plus the Sorcerer Rogier Twitch chat badge by Carsondrewit. If you missed September, there is nothing to make up: the rewards were shared with everyone, and you can still join every later questline.
How to help this month (October)
- White Phantom summons: place your Summoning Sign at a boss fog wall, or summon other players with Furlcalling Finger Remedy. Helping others through hard fights like Malenia counts.
- Golden Seeds: each one is found next to a golden sapling glowing in the open world; there are many in Limgrave, Liurnia and the Altus Plateau. Our Golden Seed and Sacred Tear locations guide lists the fastest ones.
- Festering Bloody Fingers: sold by merchants and found across the world; they let you invade other players.
- Cardinal Sins: in Elden Ring the “cardinal sin” is burning the Erdtree. After you beat the Fire Giant, rest at the Forge of the Giants and tell Melina you are ready to commit the cardinal sin. The official announcement does not spell out how the goal is counted, but this is the in-game event that carries the name. It moves your world toward Farum Azula, so finish anything you still need in Leyndell first.

The badge for each questline is already announced; the artwork is revealed once the community completes that questline’s goals.
