Elden Ring has a new edition and a small new DLC. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition brought the full game to Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026, and the same day the extra content arrived on every other platform as the Tarnished Pack. Here is what you get, what it costs and where to find every piece of new gear.

The two new starting classes
The headline feature is two new origins you can pick at character creation. Both are melee knights, but they play very differently.

- Heavy Knight: the highest starting Endurance of any class (17), a full Steel Armor Set and the Hefty Scimitar. Built for heavy armor and Strength.
- Idus Knight: a light, Dexterity-leaning knight with the Idus Sword, the Silver Grooved Shield and the Silver Grooved Set.

Tarnished Pack item locations: every new weapon, shield and armor set
Most of the new gear sits on a corpse or in a merchant’s stock, so a new character can collect it early. Only two drops need a boss kill or a special trigger first: Knight Leontiel’s and the Golden Order invader’s.

- Do Leontiel right after Radahn. You are already in the Wailing Dunes, and the invasion starts in the same arena.
- Do the Golden Order invader before you burn the Erdtree. Leyndell turns into the Ashen Capital afterwards, so the trigger point is gone.
- Starting-class gear is not locked. Any class can buy the Steel and Silver Grooved sets, the Hefty Scimitar and the Silver Grooved Shield, and loot the Idus Sword.

Torrent skins: Spectral Steed Attire locations
Three attires change the look of Torrent. Each one is a chest or pickup in the world:

The skins are cosmetic only: Torrent keeps the same stats and moves.
Is the Tarnished Pack worth it?
- Yes, if you want a fresh run: two new classes, new gear and the Torrent skins add variety for €4.99.
- Skip it, if you only care about bosses and difficulty: there is no new region or boss. The balance changes in patch 1.17 are free for everyone.
- On Switch 2 the Tarnished Edition is the complete package, including Shadow of the Erdtree.
FAQ
Does the Tarnished Pack need Shadow of the Erdtree?
No. It only needs the base game.
Can I use the new classes on an old save?
Classes are picked at character creation, so you need a new character to start as a Heavy Knight or Idus Knight. The gear itself can be found or bought on any character.
Where do I get Leontiel’s Greatsword?
Beat Starscourge Radahn, then return to his arena: Knight Leontiel invades there. Defeating her gives the greatsword and her full armor set.
How do I get the Golden Order Flail and Golden Order Set?
In Leyndell, Royal Capital, go down from the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace to the large Radagon statue and cast Law of Regression in front of it. The invader Noble Broken Mask appears and drops both.
