Seedbed Curse Locations: All 6 Seedbed Curses for the Dung Eater in Elden Ring

A Seedbed Curse is a horned growth left on corpses the Dung Eater has defiled. You need them for two things: holding one makes the Dung Eater talk to you in the Roundtable Hold, and giving five to his real body ends his questline with the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, the rune behind the Blessing of Despair ending. The game has six curses, so you can skip one. This guide lists all of them by area, with the route to each and the one you may want to leave alone.

Where to find all Seedbed Curses

Every curse except one sits on a corpse slumped in a chair, which is the Dung Eater’s calling card. None of them appear before Leyndell, so this is late-game collecting.

Leyndell: East Capital Rampart building

  1. Rest at the East Capital Rampart grace and head south past the Oracle Envoys with trumpets.
  2. Enter the building, go down the stairs and ride the first elevator.
  3. Continue west into the next building, climb the ladder and the stairs to the highest floor.
  4. The curse is on the corpse sitting in a chair.

Leyndell: Fortified Manor

The Fortified Manor in western Leyndell is the real building the Roundtable Hold is copied from. Drop into the lower area with the dogs, climb over the stables into the manor and find the room where the Dung Eater sits in the Roundtable Hold. A corpse strapped to a chair holds the curse.

Leyndell outer moat: Blackguard Big Boggart (missable)

If you bought prawns from Blackguard Big Boggart in Liurnia, he later moves to the outer moat of Leyndell. When the Dung Eater’s invasion fires there, Blackguard dies and his body carries a Seedbed Curse plus his bell bearing. Since you only need five, you can let this one go and keep Blackguard alive; the other five are enough.

Volcano Manor: the sealed drop room

  1. Start at the Audience Pathway grace (or walk in from the Temple of Eiglay toward the Rykard teleporter).
  2. Find the large room with the Man-Serpent mage and cross to the fog gate on the far balcony. It is sealed by an imp statue, so bring Stonesword Keys.
  3. Inside it is pitch dark. Drop down carefully using the hanging cages as stepping stones.
  4. The curse is on a seated corpse at the bottom, guarded by enemies.

Elphael: two curses near the Prayer Room

  • Upper curse: from the Prayer Room grace, go down to the stairs covered by crossbow soldiers, jump onto the arch on the right and follow the ledges northwest to a balcony. The corpse sits at its end, above the ballistae.
  • Lower curse: from the same grace, go down all the stairs toward the Cleanrot Knight room. Hop the railing on the right, drop one level and enter the dark room below. Another seated corpse holds it.

What to do with Seedbed Curses

  1. Carry one curse to the locked room in the Roundtable Hold; with it in your inventory the Dung Eater talks and hands you the Sewer-Gaol Key.
  2. Free his real body in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds and beat his invasion in the Leyndell moat.
  3. Go back to his cell and give him five Seedbed Curses. He leaves the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.
  4. Use the rune after the final boss to get the Blessing of Despair. See our Elden Ring endings guide for how it compares to the others.

Tips

  • Grab the two Leyndell chair curses on your first trip through the capital; they are on the main routes from the East Capital Rampart and the west side.
  • Volcano Manor is easiest during the Rykard stretch, when you are already exploring the manor.
  • The two Elphael curses are the last ones; the Haligtree route only opens after both halves of the Secret Medallion, the same gate as the last Deathroot.
  • The full step order of the questline is in our Dung Eater questline walkthrough.

FAQ

How many Seedbed Curses are there in Elden Ring?

Six per playthrough: three in and around Leyndell, one in Volcano Manor and two in Elphael. The Dung Eater only needs five.

Which Seedbed Curse is missable?

The one on Blackguard Big Boggart. It only exists if he dies in the Leyndell moat during the Dung Eater’s invasion, so skip it if you want to keep him alive.

What does the Dung Eater give for five Seedbed Curses?

The Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, which unlocks the Blessing of Despair ending after the final boss.
