Two upgrades decide how flexible your build can be: Talisman Pouches, which add talisman slots, and Memory Stones, which add spell slots. Neither can be farmed or bought in bulk, and both are easy to miss. This guide lists every Talisman Pouch and Memory Stone location in Elden Ring, in the order most players can reach them.
| Talisman slots | Start with 1, up to 4 with all 3 Talisman Pouches |
| Memory slots | Start with 2, up to 10 with all 8 Memory Stones |
| Shadow of the Erdtree | Adds no extra pouches or stones |
| Missable? | No: the Twin Maiden Husks sell a fallback for Enia’s pouch |
| Cheapest early stone | Twin Maiden Husks, Roundtable Hold, 3,000 runes |
All 3 Talisman Pouch locations
| # | Where | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stormhill / Leyndell, Royal Capital | Beat Margit, the Fell Omen. If you skipped Margit, Morgott, the Omen King gives it instead |
| 2 | Roundtable Hold | Talk to Finger Reader Enia once you hold two Great Runes. Missed it? The Twin Maiden Husks sell it afterwards |
| 3 | Leyndell, Royal Capital | Beat Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Golden Shade) |
For most players the second pouch comes right after Godrick the Grafted plus one more Shardbearer such as Rennala or Radahn. Remember to actually go back and speak to Enia: the pouch is not handed over automatically.
All 8 Memory Stone locations
| # | Region | Location | How to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Roundtable Hold | Twin Maiden Husks | Buy for 3,000 runes |
| 2 | Weeping Peninsula | Oridys’s Rise | Chest at the top; the tower is sealed until you solve its challenge |
| 3 | Liurnia of the Lakes | Raya Lucaria Academy | Dropped by the Red Wolf of Radagon |
| 4 | Liurnia of the Lakes (west) | Converted Tower | Chest on the top floor; solve the tower’s challenge first |
| 5 | Liurnia of the Lakes (north) | Testu’s Rise | Chest on the top floor; solve the tower’s challenge first |
| 6 | Liurnia of the Lakes (Three Sisters) | Seluvis’s Rise | Chest on the top floor |
| 7 | Mt. Gelmir | Hermit Village | Dropped by Demi-Human Queen Maggie |
| 8 | Dragonbarrow (east) | Lenne’s Rise | Chest on the top floor; drop onto the open balcony from the Spiritspring south of the tower |
The sealed towers each have an inscription near the entrance that hints at what you need to do. Read it before you climb, or you will reach a locked door at the top.
Which slots matter most for your build
- Melee builds gain far more from talisman slots. Four slots let you run a damage talisman, a defensive one and two build-specific picks, for example on the bleed Arcane build.
- Sorcery and Faith builds should grab the Twin Maiden Husks stone and the Red Wolf drop early; most casters feel the spell-slot limit long before they feel the talisman limit. See the Moonveil spellblade and Taker’s Flames builds.
- Big spells eat more than one slot. Some incantations and sorceries take two or even three memory slots, so ten slots does not always mean ten spells.

FAQ
Can I get more than 4 talisman slots?
No. One starting slot plus three pouches is the cap, and Shadow of the Erdtree did not raise it.
Do Talisman Pouches and Memory Stones carry over to New Game+?
Yes. Upgrades you already earned stay with you; the slots do not reset in the next cycle.
