How to get to Mohg, Lord of Blood (Mohgwyn Palace)
Mohg sits at the far end of Mohgwyn Palace, a hidden underground area. There are two ways in. The Varré route can open it much earlier in a playthrough; the Snowfield waygate is the late-game option.
Route 1: Pureblood Knight’s Medal from White Mask Varré
- Beat Godrick (or obtain any Great Rune) and speak to Enia at the Roundtable Hold. Varré then moves to the Rose Church in Liurnia.
- Talk to him there and complete the three invasions he asks for with the Festering Bloody Finger.
- Return to Varré. He hands you the Lord of Blood’s Favor and asks you to soak it in a maiden’s blood.
- Use it on the maiden corpse at the Church of Inhibition above Frenzied Flame Village (the Chapel of Anticipation also works if you unlocked it from the Four Belfries).
- Go back to Varré and exhaust his dialogue to receive the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. Use it from your inventory to travel to Mohgwyn Palace.
Route 2: the Consecrated Snowfield waygate
- Reach the Consecrated Snowfield and ride to the area northwest of the Yelough Anix Ruins.
- Defeat the Sanguine Noble NPC invader there. The waygate stays inactive until he is dead.
- Step into the waygate. It drops you in caves southeast of the palace; follow them out to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road grace.
From there the graces run Palace Approach Ledge-Road → Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance → Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint, and the boss fog is a short walk from the Midpoint grace. Before you go, grab Mohg’s Shackle from the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds under Leyndell; it pins him in place during phase 1.

📜 Lore – The Blood Omen
Mohg is one of Queen Marika’s Omen twins, brother to Morgott.
Unlike Morgott, who remained loyal to the Erdtree, Mohg embraced the Formless Mother.
He abducted Miquella in hopes of creating a new dynasty —
a blood-soaked age ruled by himself.
He seeks not order.
He seeks ascension.

What does Mohg’s Great Rune do?
Restore it at the Divine Tower of East Altus (the same tower as Morgott’s rune, past the Fell Twins), then activate it with a Rune Arc. It gives your summoned spirits and phantoms a Blessing of Blood: each time a blessed ally kills an enemy you heal 10% of your max HP. When you invade, it also gives you Phantom Great Runes to use in the host’s world.
Mohg, Lord of Blood FAQ
Do you have to beat Mohg for Shadow of the Erdtree?
Yes. The DLC is entered by touching Miquella’s arm in Mohg’s arena, so you need Mohg dead (and Starscourge Radahn too) before you can reach the Land of Shadow.
How do you survive Nihil?
Mix the Purifying Crystal Tear into your Flask of Wondrous Physick and drink it as soon as he starts the Nihil chant at half health. It greatly cuts the damage and stops the bleed from bursting. See our best Crystal Tear combos for a full Mohg flask.
Is Mohg weak to bleed?
Yes. His hemorrhage resistance starts low and only climbs after each proc, so bleed weapons such as Rivers of Blood work well. He takes 80% less fire damage, so avoid fire builds.
