Mohg, the Omen is the first, smaller encounter with Mohg, found deep beneath Leyndell in the Cathedral of the Forsaken. He is optional, fast and full of blood-flame attacks. This guide shows how to reach him and how Mohg’s Shackle makes the fight much easier.

Overview
Mohg, the Omen hides at the bottom of the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, the sewer maze beneath the Royal Capital. He is the same character you later fight as Mohg, Lord of Blood, but here he fights alone with his trident.
He is immune to every status effect, so pure physical damage wins this fight. He cannot be parried.
How to reach Mohg, the Omen
Enter the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds from Leyndell, work your way down to the Forsaken Depths grace, and take the stairs below it into the Cathedral of the Forsaken.
Preparation
- Bring Mohg’s Shackle. You can use it twice per fight to pin him down, which gives you free windows for charged attacks.
- Use the pillars in the arena to block his projectiles.
- Fire protection helps against his blood-flame attacks.
Moveset and how to counter it
Keep him close and punish after his trident combos. Use the Shackle when you need a guaranteed opening.
Trident thrusts
Dodge, or block at range.
Bloodboon splash
Blood flames spray from his trident. Roll forward against the wide arc, sideways against the cone, and behind him against the shower variant.
Trident combos
Watch the weapon, not his body, and dodge through the swipes.
Bloodflame Talons
Blood markings appear on the ground and explode. Roll away before they detonate.

- High physical damage builds; status builds do nothing here.
- Occult-infused weapons for Arcane builds.
