Overview
Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon is the second major boss of the Academy of Raya Lucaria and one of the Shardbearers in Elden Ring.
Unlike most bosses, Rennala’s fight is split into two distinct phases:
- Phase 1: Puzzle-based mechanic
- Phase 2: Full magic duel
This battle tests:
- Awareness
- Target prioritization
- Magic resistance
- Consistent dodge timing
She is not mechanically complex — but Phase 2 can overwhelm unprepared players.

Accessible after defeating Red Wolf of Radagon.

Phase 1 – The Shielded Queen
Mechanic
Rennala floats inside a glowing golden barrier.
You must:
- Identify the glowing, singing students
- Kill three of them
- Break Rennala’s shield
When the shield breaks:
- She falls to the ground
- You have a short damage window
Repeat until Phase 2 begins.
Tips for Phase 1
- Ignore regular students.
- Watch for books flying at you.
- Stay mobile to avoid falling chandeliers.
- Burst her during the knockdown phase.
This phase is more about awareness than combat skill.
Phase 2 – Full Moon Sorceress
Rennala now fights directly using powerful sorceries.
Phase 2 Moveset
🔹 Comet Azur / Magic Beam
High damage magic projectile.
Tip: Roll sideways at the last second.
🔹 Full Moon Spell
She summons a giant moon that slowly travels toward you.
Tip: Run away and dodge when it reaches you.
🔹 Glintstone Barrage
Multiple homing projectiles.
Tip: Sprint sideways — don’t panic roll.
🔹 Spirit Summons
She may summon:
- Wolves
- Troll
- Bloodhound Knight
- Dragon
These disappear after a short time.
Tip: Survive — don’t overcommit to killing summons.
