Blaidd, the half-wolf, is Ranni’s loyal shadow. His story runs alongside Ranni’s questline, from a wolf howl in the Mistwood to a tragic final fight outside Ranni’s Rise. This walkthrough lists every Blaidd questline step in order, with the location of each meeting and what you get.

Blaidd questline step by step
- Hear the howl. Hear a wolf howl in the Mistwood and ask Merchant Kalé at the Church of Elleh about it. He teaches you the Finger Snap gesture.
- Meet Blaidd. Use Finger Snap below the tallest point of the Mistwood Ruins. Blaidd jumps down and asks you to find Bloodhound Knight Darriwil.
- Fight Darriwil. Enter the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in southern Limgrave; Blaidd can be summoned against Darriwil. Talk to him twice afterwards: the first talk gives a Somber Smithing Stone [2], the second points you to Iji in Liurnia.
- Visit Iji. Find Smithing Master Iji near the Road to the Manor grace in Liurnia and tell him Blaidd sent you. This adds the Carian Filigreed Crest to his shop and points you towards Ranni.
- Siofra River. After joining Ranni, find Blaidd east of the Siofra River Bank grace. He sends you to Preceptor Seluvis, who points you to Sorceress Sellen. Report back to Blaidd and he tells you about the Radahn Festival.
- Radahn Festival. Blaidd waits in the Redmane Castle courtyard and can be summoned against Radahn. After the fight, speak to him at the Starscourge Radahn grace.
- The evergaol. Iji, fearing Blaidd may turn on Ranni, locks him in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. Go back there, hear the howl and talk to him. This step is optional: he still reaches Ranni’s Rise at the end.
- The end. After you defeat Astel and reach the end of Ranni’s quest, return to the Ranni’s Rise grace. Blaidd waits at the tower entrance, struggles to control himself and turns hostile.
Where is Blaidd after Radahn?
First at the Starscourge Radahn grace in the Wailing Dunes, then imprisoned in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave. If you cannot find him at either spot, keep going with Ranni’s questline: his last appearance is outside Ranni’s Rise.
Blaidd final fight and rewards
Blaidd fights with the Royal Greatsword and its Wolf’s Assault skill, dealing physical and magic damage and building Frostbite. He can be parried. Defeating him gives:
- Royal Greatsword (colossal sword)
- Blaidd’s Armor, Blaidd’s Gauntlets, Blaidd’s Greaves
- 2,000 runes (NG)
The Black Wolf Mask is not a drop: it is found separately near Seluvis’s Rise. Killing Blaidd before the end of his questline means these items do not drop.
Tips
- Do Blaidd’s steps together with Ranni’s questline.
- Talk to him after Darriwil before advancing Ranni’s quest to the Siofra River, or the Somber Smithing Stone [2] is lost.
- Talk to him every time you meet him: dialogue advances his quest.
- Track the bosses you beat with the boss checklist.
FAQ
Where does Blaidd’s questline start?
At the Mistwood Ruins in Limgrave. Get the Finger Snap gesture from Kalé first, then use it at the ruins.
Why does Blaidd turn hostile?
At the end of Ranni’s quest he loses control outside Ranni’s Rise and attacks you. Beating him is how you get the Royal Greatsword and his armor.
Do I have to free Blaidd from the evergaol?
No. Visiting him there is optional; he still appears at Ranni’s Rise once Ranni’s quest is done.
